With full speed ahead towards Smart Factory

Edscha Santander is making consistent progress in the Smart Factory direction. The development began with the "OEE 4.0" project from January 2017 to June 2018. OEE means Overall Equipment Effectiveness and is an indicator for measuring the actual effectiveness of a plant. "Since the start of this project we have made considerable progress in the three important fields of 'digitizing planning', 'digitizing quality with real-time data acquisition, analysis trends and statistical control' and 'digitizing maintenance'”, summarizes Edscha manager Roberto Aristi.

Edscha Santander is currently completing the "Smart Indoor Logistic" project. From January 2018 to July 2019 internal logistics could be significantly improved within that scope. "In particular, we have made progress with 'Smart Indoor Logistic' in optimizing the material flow and defining the location of the tools”, says Roberto Aristi. A third project that is supposed to advance Edscha was launched this year in April and is scheduled to last until June 2020: "Total Smart Plant “. The focus will once again be on OEE plant productivity, which is to be improved thanks to further digitization progress.

The regional government of Cantabria looks on all three projects favourably and therefore supports Edscha together with the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) in digitizing its production at the Santander plant.
