Gestamp and Edscha show the future of mobility

Auto Shanghai

One of the biggest events in the automotive world began yesterday: the Auto Shanghai. With around 1000 exhibitors, it is now the largest automotive trade fair in the world. Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected in the twelve exhibition halls until April 28: The opportunity for Gestamp and Edscha to show that they remain at the forefront of the industry thanks to innovations in its components and technologies.

At Auto Shanghai 2021, both companies present their latest developments to visitors. The focus will be on lightweight solutions for electric vehicles. Their goal: to reduce energy consumption on the way to more sustainable mobility.

Due to the Covid19 pandemic under which Auto Shanghai is taking place this year, Gestamp has designed a virtual booth in addition to the on-site exhibition to reach target groups who cannot physically attend the show.

Thanks to an augmented reality application available at the booth, attendees are able to experience products from Gestamp's Body-in-White (BiW), Chassis and Mechanisms (Edscha) business units. In BiW, a double door ring, new designs of crash management systems and innovative concepts for battery boxes (Hybrid Battery Box) are presented. The chassis innovations are based on multi-material solutions such as front and rear subframes, whose innovations are in the areas of weight, cost efficiency, safety and comfort.

Edscha will present its Edscha Double Spring (EDS), which offers greater comfort and flexibility when entering and exiting a vehicle. It ensures that the door remains securely in any position, making entry and exit extremely convenient.
