Requirement: qualified lower secondary school leaving certificate or intermediate secondary school leaving school certificate
Duration of apprenticeship: 3.5 years

Tool mechanics are concerned with the manufacture and maintenance of precision tools and of products made by stamping and shaping.

Products are manufactured according to drawing, sketch or model, both manually and mechanically, with high dimensional accuracy and surface quality. Tool mechanics must also be able to produce programs for computer-assisted machine tools and master working techniques such as milling and turning. After their apprenticeships, tool mechanics specializing in stamping technology can work as skilled employees in toolmaking and modelmaking.
